Using buffs automatically in Viking Rise
Shields expire at four in the morning. Gathering boosts expire eight hours after you went to bed. This action re-applies them on a schedule so the gap closes without you setting an alarm.
This guide assumes you've completed Viking Rise bot setup.
Turning it on is not enough. Every buff family starts on None, so an untouched copy of the action uses nothing.
What the action does
One pass opens your inventory, goes to the Buffs tab, and uses one buff from each family you configured.
Setting it up

Each family gets its own dropdown, offering None, Any, and that family's real in-game durations:
| Family | Durations offered | |---|---| | Worker Gathering Boost | 8h, 24h | | Resource Gathering Boost | 8h, 24h | | Village Trading Boost | 8h, 24h | | Village Defense Boost | 8h, 24h | | Shield | 4h, 8h, 12h, 24h, 3d, 7d, 15d, 30d | | Anti-Scout | 12h, 24h, 7d |
Several families can be set at once — the bot walks each configured family in the order shown and uses one buff from each. None skips a family entirely.
What "Any" actually picks
Any is the shortest duration you actually own. The bot walks that family's durations from shortest upward and uses the first one it finds in your inventory.
That's deliberate: it burns your common short buffs and keeps the scarce long ones back. If you want the 30-day Shield spent first, pick it by name.
Either way it's one buff per family per pass. Any does not mean "use them all".
The duration is part of the item
The 8h and 24h versions of a boost are separate items with separate stacks in your inventory, not one item with a setting. That's why each duration is its own dropdown entry — and why picking 24h does nothing at all if you only own 8h ones.
With Any, not owning one duration just moves the bot to the next. With a named duration, not owning it means that family is skipped this pass.
Re-applying on expiry
The bot doesn't track when a buff runs out. Give the action a schedule matching the duration instead — an 8h boost wants a copy every 8 hours — and the gap closes itself.
Troubleshooting
Nothing is used. Every family is on None, or you don't own the durations you named. Switch one to Any to see whether it's the stock or the setting.
It says the buff is already running. The game refuses to stack it. The bot dismisses the notice and moves to the next family rather than replacing a running buff.
I want two Shields used in one pass. Not possible — it's one buff per family. Add a second copy of the action with its own schedule.
A confirmation popup appeared. The game sometimes asks you to confirm an item will be consumed. It's confirmed automatically. If you've ticked the game's own "don't show again" box there's no popup, which is fine too.
