Account profiles
An account can keep several named action lists, called profiles, and runs one of them at a time. A "War" profile might have healing and rallies switched on, and a "Farm" profile gathering and collecting. Switching between them changes what the account does from its next round, without editing its actions by hand each time.
Every account starts with one profile, called Default. Until you add a second one, that is simply the account's action list.
Managing an account's profiles
Open the account's Action Settings. The Profile bar at the top holds everything:
- the dropdown switches between profiles;
- + adds a new one. Start from a copy of the current actions is ticked by default; untick it and the new profile starts from the default settings;
- the pencil renames the one showing;
- the bin deletes it.
Switching never loses anything. The list you're leaving is kept exactly as it was in its own profile, so switching back gives you it back. The account's login isn't part of any profile, so switching never changes which character the bot signs in as.
You can also switch one account from the Accounts screen: right-click it and pick a profile under Switch this account's profile.
Giving other accounts the same profile
Set the profile up on one account, then copy it to the others:
- Tick the accounts you want to have it, or right-click one and choose Apply actions….
- In the window, pick the account you set it up on, and under Profile to copy, the profile.
- Tick Add as a profile on each account and press Add Profile.
Each of those accounts now has its own copy, added beside what it's running. Nothing they're running changes. The full window is covered in copying actions.
The copies stay linked to the profile they came from, and that link is what lets you switch all of them at once. It survives renaming: an account can call its copy something else and it is still the same profile.
A saved profile from the Profiles library (the button at the top of the Accounts screen) can be added the same way, from the Saved profiles tab. Every account that got its copy from the same saved profile is linked to the others.
Merging two saved profiles
In the Profiles library, a profile can have another one merged into it. Press the merge button on its row and pick the profile to pull in.
What that does: the picked profile's switched-on actions are added to the one you pressed the button on, and where both have the same action switched on, the picked one's settings win. The profile you picked is left completely unchanged, so nothing is consumed and you can do it again.
This is the difference between combining two setups and replacing one with the other. Landing a profile over an account from Apply actions replaces what is there; a merge keeps both. Before this existed the only way to combine two was to open one and re-tick the other's actions by hand, which is tedious and the one way to get it subtly wrong.
A profile with nothing switched on has nothing to contribute, and the window says so rather than offering a merge that would do nothing.
Switching many accounts at once
There are three ways in, and they all open the same Switch Profile window:
- Tick some accounts and press Switch profile in the bar that appears.
- Right-click a ticked account while several are ticked, and choose Switch profile….
- Press the layers button on a group's header to switch every account in that group.
The window lists every profile those accounts have between them, most widely shared first, each with how many of the accounts have it and how many are already running it. Pick one and, before anything changes, the window tells you how many accounts will switch, how many are already on it, and which will be skipped because they don't have it. Press Switch and a message confirms what happened.
Each account switches onto its own copy. Nothing is copied from one account to another, every account keeps its own login, and the list each one was running is kept in its own profile.
Getting everyone back to Default is one switch. Every account's Default counts as the same profile here, so picking Default puts every account back on its own Default. An account that never had a second profile is already on its Default and is counted that way.
Troubleshooting
An account doesn't have the profile I picked. It's skipped and keeps running what it was. The window names skipped accounts before you press Switch. To include them next time, give them a copy with Add as a profile on each account first.
The Switch profile button is greyed out. None of the ticked accounts has a second profile, so there's nothing to switch between. A group's button is greyed out for the same reason.
Some accounts renamed their copy. They're still linked and still switch. The window shows the name most accounts use and lists the others as "Also called…".
I see two entries with the same name. Those profiles were made separately on each account, so they aren't linked. To link them, copy one onto the other accounts with Add as a profile on each account: a copy replaces a profile of the same name, and after that they're linked.
I made a new profile as a copy of the current actions. It's a new profile, not linked to anything, even to the one it was copied from. Linked copies only come from Add as a profile on each account.
I copied the profile to the same accounts again after changing it. Each account's copy is updated rather than a second one being added, even where an account renamed its copy.
I set up profiles before this feature existed. Profiles that already existed are linked by name: all of them with the same name count as the same profile across every account, matching how copying used to work.
The bot is running. You can still switch. Each account picks up its new list the next time it comes round.
I switched the wrong accounts. There's no Undo because nothing is lost: every account's previous list is still saved in its own profile. Switch them back. If they were all on one profile before, such as Default, that's one switch.
I deleted a profile on one account. Only that account loses it. The other accounts' copies are untouched and stay linked to each other.
BotDaddy changed how an action works in an update. Every profile is brought up to date when you start the new version, not just the one each account is running, so switching to a profile you haven't used for months gives you a current list.
What it doesn't do
- It doesn't copy settings between accounts. Apply actions does that.
- It doesn't give an account a profile it doesn't have. Those are skipped.
- It doesn't change any account's login.
- It doesn't start or stop the bot, or switch accounts on or off.
- It doesn't change the saved profiles in the Profiles library.
